Amending & deleting orders
Can I amend or delete an active order on Stake AUS?
Active orders can usually be cancelled or amended.
You can adjust the price and quantity of limit and stop orders, but not the expiry date. Market orders, including triggered stop orders, can’t be amended.
Please note, you cannot amend orders during the Opening Single Price Auction (OSPA) (9:59am - 10:00am) or Closing Single Price Auction (CSPA) (4:10pm - 4:11pm). Only cancellations are permitted during these periods.
Why can I not place or amend orders during the Opening Single Price Auction (OSPA) or closing Single Price Auction (CSPA)?
The ASX only permits order cancellations during the Opening Single Price Auction (OSPA) and Closing Single Price Auction (CSPA). This is to maintain the integrity of the auction process and ensure last-minute changes do not disrupt price discovery. Only order cancellations are permitted during these auction periods.
You can view active orders at any time under the Active Orders tab of your portfolio. Please note, orders will show as ‘active’ until they’re fully executed. If partially filled, cancelling the order stops only the remaining part.
You’ll receive email notifications when your order is executed, expired or cancelled. You can also track your trade activity by heading to Manage > Activity on the app, or the Active orders icon (top right-hand corner) on the web. Confirmations are available approximately one day after the trade date.
If you’re currently having issues with amending or cancelling an active order, you can get in touch with the Stake support team here.
Can I amend or delete an active order on Stake Wall St?
Managing your active orders on Stake is simple.
You can create orders at any time during or outside of market hours. Orders that are waiting to be executed/completed are known as active orders. In most cases, active orders can be cancelled, but there are some circumstances where that’s not possible – more on that below.
For Limit and Stop orders, you can amend the price and/or the amount/shares on app, though not the expiry date. Market orders may not be able to be amended before being executed in full or part.
Exceptions
Please note that, to ensure you receive the best opening price, pre-market orders are sent to executing brokers as part of the opening auction. For this reason, pre-market orders for these exchanges may not be able to be cancelled after the following cutoff times:
Exchange | Time (EST/EDST) |
Nasdaq | 9:25am |
BATS, IEX | 9:28am |
NYSE ARCA, NYSE American | 9:29am |
