How do I transfer my U.S. portfolio to Stake?
Transferring your existing U.S. shares to Stake is a simple, seamless and 100% digital process. It only takes a few minutes to submit a transfer request, then we’ll do all the heavy lifting. Plus, if your first full transfer is valued at US$500 or more, you’ll get a bonus Dropbox stock on us.
Transferring your share portfolio to Stake from another broker or brokerage platform is free. You won't be charged any fees by Stake for the transfer.
If you already have the Stake app, follow the instructions below to bring your portfolio. If you don’t, download it first from the App Store or Google Play Store.
- Log into your Stake account
- Got to More > Portfolio transfers > Wall St portfolio transfer
- Scan the QR code and follow the instructions on the app
Our U.S. broker partner does not accept third-party portfolio transfer requests. Stake cannot accept third-party U.S. portfolio transfer requests with a change in beneficial owner including marital or family.
Transfers can sometimes be delayed due to discrepancies with personal details, stock codes or unforeseen issues with your outgoing broker. We strive to process transfer requests as quickly as possible.
U.S. stocks usually land in your Stake account within 2-3 weeks from a confirmed submission. The transfer time varies based on how responsive your current platform is. DTC transfers can take up to 4-6 weeks and ACATS transfers can take up to 1-2 weeks.
Note that shares in your outgoing account must settle before being transferred. If they have not, please wait 1 trading days from your most recent buy/sell transaction before initiating a request. Otherwise, there may be a delay in the transfer process.
With Stake, you’ll pay US$3 brokerage for trades up to US$30,000, or 0.01% on trades above US$30,000, and no FX fees per trade.
Remember to check if your current broker charges fees to transfer shares out of their platform.
Other fees may apply for portfolio transfers, so please check with your departing broker. Please refer to our pricing page.
