Learn more about the benefits of trading with a CHESS sponsored broker.
The minimum investment on the ASX is $500 (excluding brokerage) when buying a specific stock for the first time. This is known as the “minimum marketable parcel” and is a requirement for all CHESS sponsored investments under your own HIN. There is no minimum purchase size if you hold shares in a specific stock.

As a former commsec user, I love how easy the app is to navigate and with ASX now available switching between markets is easy.
I've never written an App review before, but Stake really has continued to wow me.
I started using Stake for US trading, and recently (very easily) transferred my ASX portfolio across to utilise the cheap trades.
Switched from nabtrade. Much better experience. Far cheaper.
A well designed and easy to use app to trade on the USA and AUS markets.

When you transfer your ASX portfolio over $1,000, you get $3 off brokerage on ASX trades for 12 months. What's more, Stake puts you a step away from Wall St, with US$3 brokerage for trades up to US$30,000, or 0.01% on trades above US$30,000, and no FX fees per trade on U.S. stocks. Fractional shares also allow you to invest on Wall St with as little as $10.
It’s free to transfer your portfolio into Stake. Make sure to check if there are any broker-to-broker transfer fees that apply with your departing broker.
From our end, transferring shares between brokers is a fast, free and paperless process that takes just minutes. Then the average time it should take for your ASX shares to land into your Stake account is 40 hours. We do everything in our power to complete transfers as quickly as possible, but sometimes there may be delays due to the departing broker not releasing the shares in a timely fashion.
Since the shares are just being transferred between brokers, this is not a taxable event as the investments are not being sold.
You’ve already got the ASX portfolio, so once it’s transferred across to Stake, you can manage your investing as per usual.
