Funding process & timeframes
How do I deposit to my Stake Wall St and Stake AUS balances?
There are many ways to fund your Stake account. Click the links below for more details.
The minimum funding amount for Wall St is A$50. This includes AUD to USD balance transfers between Stake accounts and vice versa.
Do I get a reward for my first deposit on Stake Wall St?
To claim a starter stock, simply make a first deposit of at least A$50 into your Stake Wall St account within 24 hours of opening it. You’ll then be able to claim a Nike, Dropbox, or GoPro stock on us – yours will be selected at random. For the 24-hour deadline, what counts is the moment you submit the deposit, not when the funds arrive. You can learn more about this offer here. This reward is subject to Stake Wall St Rewards Terms and Conditions.
Do I get a reward for my first deposit on Stake AUS?
When you open an individual Stake AUS account and make an eligible deposit within the first 24 hours, you’ll receive an additional A$10 of buying power to get you started. To claim your credit, simply deposit at least A$50 into your Stake AUS account within 24 hours of opening it. For the 24-hour deadline, what counts is the moment you submit the deposit, not when the funds arrive.
The bonus A$10 buying power cannot be directly withdrawn and is subject to the Stake AUS Terms and Conditions. For any issues with this reward, please contact our support team.
Timeframes
How long does it take for a bank transfer to appear in my Stake AUS account?
If your bank is on the New Payments Platform (NPP), funds usually take approximately 5-15 minutes to appear in your Stake AUS account. If your bank is not on the NPP, it should normally take 1-2 business days. You can learn more about the NPP here.
Please note, that for first-time transfers via Osko, banks will usually place a one-day hold on the payment during business hours. Subsequent Osko transfers should be instantaneous once we have confirmed the received funds. There may be external compliance checks in line with Anti-Money Laundering legislation.
If you believe the above does not apply in your case, please get in touch with our support team here.
How long do internal transfers take to arrive in my Stake account balance?
You have two options if you're transferring funds between your Stake AUS and Stake Wall St balances:
- Regular: funds are credited to your Stake Wall St account T + 1 business day as buying power after Stake receives confirmation of an initiated transfer.
- FastFunds: funds are instantly credited (as buying power) to your account after Stake receives confirmation of an initiated transfer. Please note there is a 0.5% surcharge for this funding method.
Wall St Funding Speed
You can choose the speed of your deposits and currency-to-currency transfers from within your Stake USD balance. Below you will find settlement timeframes for each speed:
- Regular: funds are credited to your Wall St account T+1 (this means 1 business day later) after Stake receives confirmation of an initiated deposit/transfer.
- FastFunds: funds are instantly credited (as buying power) to your Wall St account after Stake receives confirmation of an initiated deposit/transfer. There is a 0.5% surcharge for this method.
While these funds should be available to trade, they won’t be available to withdraw or count towards your balance for Pattern Day Trading exemptions.
Funds will only be available for withdrawal/transfer after the underlying deposit has been cleared/reconciled in our main facility account. This process generally takes between 1-2 business days.
Things to consider
- Stake does not support third-party deposits. This is following our Terms & Conditions and Anti-Money Laundering obligations. Please ensure that the full name on the remitting account precisely matches the full name on your Stake account.
- Stake does not support BPAY, international wires, in-person branch transfers (i.e. Cash Deposits), or cheque payment methods.
- Stake doesn't support direct USD funding at this moment in time. All deposits to your Stake account must be initiated in the local currency of the region in which your designated account was set up.
