Funding methods
You can fund your Stake account via:
- Direct bank transfer
- Debit card/credit card/Google Pay/Apple Pay
- POLi
How do I deposit on Stake via bank transfer?
You can deposit funds into your Stake Wall St account via bank transfer from a local bank account. The minimum funding amount is NZ$50.
On the Stake App
- Head to your dashboard in the ‘Invest’ tab and tap on the ‘Add’ button located next to your buying power
- Input the desired deposit amount
- Select ‘Bank transfer’ from the payment options (located next to ‘Deposit with’)
- Select your preferred deposit speed
- You’ll then be provided with the bank account details to use when making the payment from your banking institution.
- Once you’ve submitted the transfer from your bank account, you can confirm by tapping ‘I’ve made a transfer’ to finalise your deposit.
On web
- Head to your dashboard in the Invest tab and click on ‘Add Funds’ > or click through to your Balances page via the Wallet icon on the top-right of your screen.
- Input the desired deposit amount
- Select ‘Bank transfer’ from the payment options (located next to ‘Deposit with’)
- Select your preferred deposit speed
- You’ll then be provided with the bank account details to use when making the payment from your banking institution.
- Once you’ve submitted the transfer from your bank account, you can confirm by tapping ‘I’ve made a transfer’ to finalise your deposit.
Please note that when making the transfer, you must enter the correct BSB, Account Number and Account Name. The incoming Account Number for Stake deposits is unique to you, so there’s no requirement for a Description or Reference.
Important information:
- Your bank may place a hold on your first payment for up to 24 hours
- Stake does not accept third-party deposits
Can I fund via card, Apple Pay or Google Pay?
Yes, follow the steps below to deposit via debit/credit card, Apple Pay or Google Pay. The minimum funding amount is NZ$50.
Credit/debit card
- On the Stake app, head to your portfolio dashboard and tap Buying power > Add funds; on web, click on the wallet icon in the right-hand corner > Add funds
- Input the deposit amount
- Select debit/credit card and your preferred funding speed
- Enter your card details (you can also save these details for future fundings)
- Confirm deposit
Apple Pay/Google Pay
- On the Stake app, head to your Wall St portfolio dashboard and tap Buying power > Add funds; on web, click on the wallet icon in the right-hand corner > Add funds
- Insert the deposit amount
- Select Apple Pay/Google Pay and your preferred funding speed
- Follow the prompts and confirm the deposit
Please note, that funds will only be available for withdrawal after the underlying deposit has been cleared/reconciled in our main facility account. This process generally takes between 1-2 business days.
Processing fees: All debit card deposits (including Google Pay and Apple Pay) incur a 2% processing fee. Credit card deposits (including Google Pay and Apple Pay) incur a 3% processing fee.
Deposit funds via POLi
You can make bank transfers right on Stake using POLi, and funds go directly into your investing account.
To make a POLi-supported deposit:
- On the Stake app, head to your portfolio dashboard and tap Buying power > Add funds – on web, click on the Wallet icon in the right-hand corner > Add funds
- Input the deposit amount
- Select POLi and your preferred funding speed
- Follow the prompts to complete your POLi payment
About POLi
POLi is an online payment option, backed by Merco, that facilitates a funds transfer in near real-time using PayID from your bank account to a merchant. It’s an easy and secure alternative for customers who don’t want to use credit cards.
POLi allows you to fund directly from the Stake app without having to manually initiate a transfer.
All the security measures of your internet banking account apply when funding via POLi, including two-factor authentication and any transaction limits you have.
