Wall St day change

wall st

The day change figure shows how much a Wall St stock has moved since the previous regular close. You'll see the same day figure on your dashboard, your watchlist and the stock's own page.

What day measures

A Wall St trading day has three sessions: pre-market (4am to 9:30am ET), regular hours (9:30am to 4pm ET) and after-hours (4pm to 8pm ET). The day covers all three. It's measured from the previous regular close at 4pm ET, so it shows the stock's full move since yesterday's close, not just its move since this morning's open.

How prices are shown

Prices on Stake are always live. Every price you see is the latest traded price, including during pre-market and after-hours. day already includes every session, so there's no need to switch between regular-hours and extended hours pricing. That's why the sun and moon toggle has been removed.

How the day chart works

The day chart follows the Wall St trading day in the order it happens: pre-market, then regular hours, then after-hours. Everything since the previous regular close is plotted as one continuous line.

To see how each session moved, open the day chart on your portfolio or a stock page and move across it. You'll see how the price changed through each session, including 'At close' and 'After-hours'.

When your orders fill

Live prices don't change how orders work. An order only fills during the sessions it's set to trade in. If Extended Hours is off, your order waits for the next regular session (9:30am to 4pm ET), even while the price can be moving in pre-market or after-hours.

To have an order fill outside regular hours, turn on Extended Hours when you place it. Some stocks and order types aren't available outside regular hours.
