Former Tech Council of Australia CEO and Afterpay Executive Damian Kassabgi joins Stake Board

The leadership appointment comes as Stake continues to accelerate innovation for investors across Australia and New Zealand.
Sydney, Australia, 2 September 2026 – Australian-owned investing platform Stake today announced the appointment of Damian Kassabgi to its Board of Directors, as the company continues to break barriers for ambitious Australians and Kiwis.
Matt Leibowitz, CEO and Founder of Stake, welcomed Kassabgi's appointment.
"For too long, investing was more expensive, more complex and less accessible than it needed to be. Greater competition and technology has changed that, and there's still plenty more work to do," said Leibowitz.
"Damian has spent his career helping innovative businesses grow and succeed. His experience will be invaluable as Stake continues to challenge the status quo and deliver better outcomes for Australians."
Geoff Lloyd, Chairman of Stake, said: "Damian brings outstanding experience and a fresh perspective. I'm delighted to welcome him to the Board and look forward to the contribution he'll make to Stake's future."
Kassabgi said: “The most successful sectors of the economy are often those where competition and innovation are strongest. Stake is a great Australian success story with a strong track record of delivering better outcomes for investors including facilitating access to global markets and providing Australians alternate superannuation options."
"I'm excited to join the Board and support the company's next phase of growth."
Kassabgi joins the Board following a career spanning technology, business and government. Most recently as Chief Executive Officer of the Tech Council of Australia, he worked alongside many of Australia's leading technology companies and played a key role in championing R&D, innovation, competition and growth across the sector.
Since launching in 2017, Stake has challenged traditional investing models by making it easier and more affordable for Australians and New Zealanders to access investment opportunities and grow their wealth.
As Stake continues to grow, the investing platform aims to accelerate responsible innovation and contribute meaningfully to the development of Australia’s financial services sector.
