Two-factor authentication (2FA)

How do I upgrade to app-based 2FA?

When you open a Stake account, keeping it secure is essential. During sign-up, you’ll be asked to confirm your mobile number so we can send you a verification code when you log in.

For enhanced protection, we recommend upgrading from SMS-based two-factor authentication (2FA) to a device authenticator app, such as Google Authenticator or Authy.

How to set it up

  1. Download an authenticator app like Google Authenticator or Authy (if you haven’t already)
  2. Log in to your Stake account
  3. In the app, go to More > Settings > Security > 2FA Authenticator
  4. On web, go to Menu > Account > Security > Two-factor authentication
  5. Copy the 2FA key or scan the QR code in your authenticator app
  6. Add it as a new account in your authenticator app
  7. Return to Stake and enter the 6-digit code generated by your app to verify

How do I disable my 2FA?

If you've lost access to the device linked to your 2FA, please get in touch with our team as soon as possible.
