About RIO
Rio Tinto plc is a global mining and materials company. Its business is finding, mining, and processing mineral resources. It operates across 34 countries and 6 continents, and its portfolio includes iron ore, aluminum, bauxite, alumina, copper, diamonds, titanium dioxide, lithium, salt and borates. Its Aluminium & Lithium segment consists of bauxite mining, alumina refining, aluminum smelting and recycling, and mining and processing of lithium. Its Copper segment consists of mining and refining copper, gold, silver, molybdenum, other by-products and exploration activities. Its Iron Ore segment includes iron ore mining and salt and gypsum production in Western Australia, iron concentrate, and pellets from the Iron Ore Company of Canada. It owns and operates an integrated portfolio of iron ore assets in the Pilbara region of Western Australia comprising a network of 18 iron ore mines, four port terminals, a nearly 2,000 km rail network and other infrastructure (Pilbara Property).
