Define your trading style.
Tech / Growth Long Term Investor with a strong focus on Technical Analysis & Patterns coupled with an appetite for in-depth company research. I like to trade around my core positions to lower my cost base over time whilst managing my overall portfolio’s risk.
Big proponent of leveraging fee-free brokerage and fractional investing (Hello Stake!!) into a Dollar Cost Averaging strategy. I’ve built some portfolio models doing this over the last year and so far so good. If you’re a chart and technology enthusiast you can follow me on Twitter @tpurgacz.
Why are you in the market?
I’m intrigued by technology and the markets in general plus I firmly believe it’s the best possible place for the well informed to make above-average returns. Currently in the process of making my part-time passion a full-time job … watch this space.
How are your returns so far?
Life changing – COVID has been very good to me with my tech-focussed portfolio. SMSF is up over 200% in 2 years, my main account 150% YTD and my DCA accounts between 80-110% after 1 year.
What are you keeping an eye on?
Valuations!! The US markets have run so hot for months we’re just starting to see some wild gyrations the last week or so. I’ve pruned down to 80-85% long so will be looking for good entries to add to my core and especially 2nd tier names right now – companies like Peloton (PTON), Crowdstrike (CRWD), Datadog (DDOG), Agora (API) and Lemonade (LMND) will be watched closely.
Any prediction for a stock, industry or general markets?
Short Term – choppy, with the US election coming up and the seasonal weakness everyone should be on their toes. Once we’re through that, longer-term I’m still extremely bullish on tech and innovation – Connected TV, ECommerce, AI / ML, Health Tech + Genomics and the move to Cloud (and Edge) computing are all still in their infancy.
ICYMI: make your own decisions
This is not investment advice, just my opinion. It doesn’t reflect any opinions of Stake. I’m as fresh to this as the next person off the street. Do your own research and make your own decisions.
