All you need to know about Stake’s April 14 launch.

You’ll be able to seize the US market like never before this Tuesday, April 14 with Stake’s launch into NZ.

During the month of April, those on our waitlist (and those who they invite) will be able to access Stake. Anyone who opens an account and funds it by April 30 will forever be a Stake NZ Founder.

We’ve been hearing from lots of you with some questions on Stake’s product and the NZ Founders Club, so we’ve put all your feedback and questions together in one article.

All the information needed to get going on Stake and make the most of it is set out below.

Launch Date

Stake goes live on Tuesday April 14 . Only those on the waitlist will be able to sign up and those that they invite to Stake (see below).

Our waitlist closes off this weekend and after that, if you want to access Stake during April, you’ll need to get a referral from a Founder. From May, Stake will be open to everyone in NZ.

The Product

Stake will be live with app and web access ( with full access to the entire securities list on Stake. This means 3,500+ stocks and ETFs. Your opportunities in the US market are covered!

Funding will be available inside Stake, so you can make a bank transfer from your local bank account to your US trading account with full visibility of the FX rate. The same applies on the way back too with withdrawals. If you want to be in the market faster you can elect express funding and be trading a few hours later.

All pricing information is set out at and just to 100% clear, Brokerage Packs remain free until 1 July 2020.

Sign Up, Access Codes & Free Stock

Each person on the waitlist has exclusive access to Stake’s launch (and to be an NZ Founder). When signing up you will be asked to enter your unique entry code, which we will send to you on Tuesday.

If you fund your account within 24 hours of signing up you will get a free stock in Nike, Dropbox or GoPro. You can also earn more stock by referring people to Stake. For every person you successfully refer, you’ll get more free stock. You can manage and share your referrals from Stake – we’ve made it really easy to find!

To sign up in April, these people will need your access code. This means that those on the waitlist control who gets access to Stake. You might see people asking on forums or on social media, so keep an eye out for opportunities to get more free stock.

Bring a Friend or Two (or Fifty…)

As mentioned above, you can allow others to access Stake in April, but they need your unique access code to sign up. You can share it as widely as you like, just remember to make sure they enter your referral code too so you get some more free stock!

Transfer from Other US Brokers

We’re so adamant that NZ deserves both better and commission-free access to the US market that we’ll take care of transferring your portfolio from your existing US broker. Once you’ve signed up to Stake and you think it’s for you, we’ll help you with the transfer and cover the fees.

All you need to do is fill out this transfer form (DTC Letter of Authorisation) and provide a copy of your current brokerage statement from your existing broker and email them through to our support team ( with the subject line: NZ Broker Transfer.

We’ll take care of the rest and work with you to make it as seamless as possible. If you have any issues with the form or making a transfer, we’re around to help too.

Existing Aussie Accounts

Some of our NZ Founders will have existing accounts, having signed up for the Australian service. For those that want to consolidate these accounts in NZ we will help you with that.

The process for existing account holders to migrate their accounts over as as follows:

  • Sign up to Stake NZ with your secondary email address and get your free stock!
  • When you want to migrate across your existing account, email our support team (, email subject: NZ Internal Transfer, confirming your request and include your existing account number (ST…) and your new one (ST…)
  • We’ll touch base and take care of the forms with you, close your old account and send you any statements you need.

This should all take less than 1 trading day and you’ll have all the paperwork you need to make your Stake NZ account the only account you need!
