What are the requirements to open an individual Stake account?

To apply for an individual investing account, you’ll need to:

• Be aged 18 or older
• Have a valid address in Australia
• Be an Australian resident, citizen or hold a valid visa (student visa, working visa etc)
• Have an ID issued by the Australian government (driver’s licence or passport) or a bank account in your name

You may need to provide some additional information if you’re opening an SMSF, Company or Trust account (Learn more).

U.S. citizens

You’re able to sign up as a U.S. citizen, so long as you still meet the above requirements. When signing up, you'll need to provide your Social Security Number as well.

How to speed up the onboarding process

Stake uses digital verification to securely streamline your application process. The information you provide is checked against various databases to electronically verify your identity. To ensure the smoothest onboarding process possible, please make sure you enter the following details accurately:

• Your driver’s licence or passport number or other government-issued ID
• Your residential address (it should match what’s on your ID if applicable)
• Your date of birth
• Your email address

Extra documentation

In cases where your information can’t be verified automatically, we may request additional documents to be uploaded for a visual check, such as:

• A photo of your government-issued ID (licence, passport etc)
• A photo of you holding that ID
• A copy of a recent bank statement or utility bill to confirm your current address

Once you send this through, following the prompts to ensure the legibility of all the relevant information, we should be able to verify you and get you going.
