What are regulatory fees?

When trading on the US, there are regulatory fees when it comes to selling shares. These are charged independently to your brokerage costs. If you’re not paying these, you’re not trading in the US for real.

These sell side fees are:

  • SEC Fee (sell side only), of $0.051 per $10,000 of sales proceeds, rounded to the nearest cent.

  • FINRA's TAF Fee (sell side only): $0.000119 per share (maximum of $5.95), rounded to the nearest cent.

You will see these recorded on trade confirmations and statements.
